After winning a lengthy appeal, we have been granted a new planning approval for four new houses on a steeply sloping site in Lyme Regis, West Dorset.
We concurrently gained an approval on this site for 6 apartments but this approval was not favoured by neighbours. They preferred the scheme for 4 new houses as this had less impact on them, the town and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Happily, the planning inspector agreed that our house designs were appropriate for this site.
The two upper houses are a contemporary interpretation of the local vernacular and replace a redundant house that was set back from the road. The lower two houses will have a more modern feel and are set into the landscape to minimise their impact.
Construction should start in 2019.
