Project Description

A beautiful award winning Arts & Crafts style house in Dorset

Situated in a disused chalk quarry in an AONB this is the only PPG7 (now Paragraph 79, formerly Paragraph 55 NPPF) large house to have been constructed in a SSSI.

Built for a discerning client, the large butterfly-plan Lutyens Arts and Crafts style house is detailed authentically, using hand crafted materials. The roof and tile hanging are hand made clay tiles, all external joinery is Oak, with leaded light glazing set in steel casements. This traditional house includes an indoor swimming pool with elaborate hand-painted murals by local artist Flick Baker. The simple contemporary design of the separate swimming pool forms a distict aesthetic contrast to the more traditional forms of the main house.
