This outline planning application is for 226 new dwellings situated within the South Downs National Park and bordering the Malling Deanery Conservation Area. The site at Old Malling has been farmed for centuries and was previously part of the much larger Malling House Estate.

The development provides a mix of dwelling types and sizes to create an inclusive community of high quality housing and substantial green spaces in harmony with the ecology and landscape.

The design has been through a rigorous process of development to ensure that the South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) were confident that a high quality, landscape led design was achieved on the site. This fantastic development provides an oppportunity for an exemplar development with its unique response.

Key to this development are a number of views of prominent local landmarks within the historic landscape that should be retained and framed. These include views out to St Peter’s Old Church, Hamsey, Offham Chalk Pitts and Lewes Castle Keep.
