Arts & Crafts Style

Context is vital to the success of any project. As an area of distinctive character housing it was considered essential that the new homes be sympathetic to and of the period of the locality.

Inspired by classic garden suburb designs of the early 1900’s, Western Design produced houses and apartments in an Arts and Crafts style to match the surrounding neighbourhood.

Timeless Design

By avoiding architectural fashion or pastiche and designing in a well researched authentic historic style we are able to prevent the houses from dating, so they will still look good 50 years from now.

Authentic detailing

We studied the masters of English Arts & Crafts craftsmanship to ensure that the detailing and finishes were consistent with the Architecture of the period. Features include tiled catslide roofs, sprocketed eaves, semi circular arches, very tall chimneys, corner tower with brackets to the overhangs, lead covered dormers, lead light windows and gable dovecotes.
