WDA are delighted to have gained Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for a new dwelling under the fallback concept.
The New dwelling is the third part of a masterplan to redevelop this historic farm.
In our initial Pre-Application consultation, the Local Authority, Wiltshire Council, was resistant to the conversion of an existing barn via a Class Q. However, being an ideal candidate for this we continued to pursue a class Q scheme, via two initial class Q applications which were refused and an appeal which was successful.
The new ‘fallback’ approval sees the demolition of an unsightly modern barn, replacing it with a new dwelling. The new house adjoins an existing Grade II Listed curtilage barn (previously restored under the initial works to the Farmhouse in preparation for the new dwelling scheme) forming an attractive courtyard arrangement.
The new house was designed as a simple high quality and subtle composition to compliment the setting of the existing heritage assets on site creating a backdrop to the existing farmyard.
Design cues for the new dwelling were taken from the existing context resulting in the new traditional style house having a simple barnlike form with brick, stone, tile and timber clad elements. We look forward to works starting on site this summer!
