Class Q Barn Conversion Approved

WDA are pleased to have received an approval for a new barn conversion near Milborne St Andrew in Dorset.

This approach combined with changes the government made to the Town and Country Planning Act (General Permitted Development Order 2015) in 2024 to allow for some significant changes to the Class Q permitted development rights (PDR), enabled the Council to grant permission for a change of use inside 5 years for something which would ordinarily take a minimum of 10 years.

The agricultural barn incorporated a single remaining brick, flint and stone wall of a long since demolished former barn on the site.  The steel frame and timber cladding will all be retained and reused as part of the conversion for what will be a 150sqm new house in open countryside with large vaulted double height spaces with far reaching views.
