A few of the team from WDA took a trip to the Ibstock brick factory in Swanage to broaden their knowledge on this fantastic material.
Organised by RIBA South / South East, local Architect practices were welcomed to the factory for a full tour including the opportunity to have a go at making our own handmade clay bricks!
The team got to explore the entire factory, following the process of the raw material – locally sourced clay, as its is manufactured into bricks. Hand thrown into traditional sanded moulds, each brick is unique and imprinted with the characteristics of the maker, making them perfect for heritage projects and prestigious properties.
Continual Professional Development (CPD) is an important part of our Architects and Architectural Assistants progression, ensuring our knowledge of new technologies, materials and methods are always current.
